Hair Extensions

Added length and volume

Interested in adding length and/or volume to your hair? We are certified in several extension methods here at Hair Expressions. All extension maintenance depends on the individual circumstance. Variables include natural hair growth rate, type of products used, tension applied on dry or wet hair, amount of heat, etc. But here’s a little information that will hopefully answer a few questions. If you have other questions or would like more info, please schedule an extension consultation free of charge with one of our certified stylists!

Tape-in extensions: These are 2 inch wefts lined with medical grade adhesive. 2 pieces will sandwich your natural hair and stick together. When it’s time to remove, a solution is applied to break down the bond so your stylist is able to remove the extensions. Your hair will be shampooed well and blown dry. Meanwhile, your stylist will apply fresh adhesive to the wefts and reinstall the extensions. Tape-in extensions can last 4-8 weeks before needing to be re-applied. Extension hair can be reused for up to 1 year.

I-tip extensions: These hair extensions are applied using a silicone lined metal cylinder. A small section of your natural hair gets pulled through the cylinder, then a small section of hair extension is added in. When the cylinder is clamped closed the extensions remain adhered for about 2 months. When it’s time to reinstall the extensions, the cylinders are re-opened, shedding hair is removed, and the extensions are moved up and re-clamped closed. Hair can be reused for about 6 months.

K-tip extensions: aka Keratin protein tips, are individual extensions applied to the natural hair using a hot fusion technique. They are tipped with silicone which helps protect your strands from damage. With proper care these can last up to 6 months. When it’s time to remove the extensions, a solution is applied to the bond causing it to break down. The extension hair can be thrown out and order new hair OR can be re-tipped for a fee.

Invisible Bead Extensions (IBE): These were created to solve 3 major problems encountered with the different types of hand tied methods available. First, damage to the clients scalp and hair from tension and over-direction. Second, client discomfort due to contact of beads on the scalp. And third, lack of versatility and styling options that clients experienced. I.B.E. creates no tension on the scalp, no exposed beads, no scalp irritation. They are discreet and give you the ability to wear hair up day one with no discomfort and no damage to natural hair. I.B.E. is virtually undetectable. Maintenance is required every 7-10 weeks. Extension hair is reusable, but a new set is recommended after 9-12 months depending on at home care with use of professional brand styling products and tools.
